Certified Peer Support Specialist
PEER and FAMILY SUPPORT
Answers is looking for highly motivated Peer and Family Support Specialist to provide support services to clients with mental illnesses.
Peer and Family Specialist will function as a role model to peers; exhibiting competency in personal recovery and use of coping skills; serve as a consumer advocate, providing consumer information and peer support for clients in outpatient and inpatient settings.
Duties include but not limited to:
· Assist clients in articulating personal goals for recovery using one-to-one sessions.
· To provide individualized, ongoing guidance, coaching and support.
· To provide training in the use of personal and community resources.
· Assist in developing formal and informal community supports.
· Assist the person served in increasing social support networks of relatives, friends and/or significant others.
· To offer encouragement in times of crisis.
· To advocate on behalf of persons with behavioral health problems to protect the client’s rights and to assist in reducing associated stigma.
· To work in cooperation with other providers, family members or significant others involved in the client’s recovery plan.
Requirements:
Applicant must have completed Peer Support Certification course and has completed required working hours or is working towards the completion of hours.
- Must pass an enhanced criminal background check conducted by the Department of Health and Welfare
- Must be detail oriented with good organizational and communication skills to perform the required documentation, assessments, and interventions. Computer proficiency required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, insurance, and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and multi-task.
- Ability to analyze and problem solve.
- Self-Starter manages his/her time wisely with little to no supervision.
This Position will be primarily in the Idaho Falls area with possible traveling to the surrounding cities of Rigby, Rexburg, and Blackfoot.
Rate of Pay: $15-18 an hour
