In this role you will strengthen information and systems security by monitoring compliance activities, maintaining secure data handling processes, and supporting system security assessments. You will contribute to major security documentation efforts such as System Security Plans, audits, and cryptographic controls to ensure a robust operational security posture.

Position Overview
ANSER is seeking an Information System Security Specialist to support information technology security compliance requirements. In this role you will strengthen information and systems security by monitoring compliance activities, maintaining secure data handling processes, and supporting system security assessments. You will contribute to major security documentation efforts such as System Security Plans, audits, and cryptographic controls to ensure a robust operational security posture.
Day To Day Responsibilities
- Monitor information technology systems to ensure compliance with established security standards and policies.
- Maintain and enforce secure data handling and storage practices across supported environments.
- Support security assessments and inspections to validate compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC) requirements.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of System Security Plans (SSPs).
- Assist in preparing for and supporting security audits, inspections, and vulnerability assessments.
- Implement cryptographic and cybersecurity measures to strengthen system protections.
- Track and document system security findings, audit results, and compliance reporting.
- Collaborate with program and IT staff to resolve identified security issues and risks.
- Provide subject matter support in implementing technical and administrative security controls.
- Maintain security records and reports to support ongoing compliance.
- Active TS/SCI with Poly Clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related information technology field.
- 4 or more years of experience in information systems, cyber security compliance, or IT Security Role
- Experience in supporting security assessments, audits, and authorization processes
- Proven ability to Implement cyber security polices, standards and processes
- Understanding of NIST 800-53, NIST 800-37, RMF, ICD 503, CNSSI 1253
- Familiarity with system security plans (SSPs), Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&M), certification and Accreditation packages, architecture diagrams, contingency plan, incident response plan, and other documentation audit preparation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders across multiple teams.
- Experience supporting enterprise-level cybersecurity programs or federal security operations.
- Proficiency in security frameworks, tools, or industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver security solutions in complex environments.
