Pharmacy Analyst

Job Summary

The Pharmacy Analyst supports pharmacy operations by analyzing data related to prescription trends, medication usage, inventory management, cost savings, and patient outcomes. This role involves compiling data from various sources, generating actionable insights, and providing reports to assist pharmacy staff and leadership in decision-making processes. The Pharmacy Analyst will also help in optimizing workflows and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

• Collect, analyze, and interpret pharmacy-related data, including drug utilization, inventory levels, and prescription trends.
• Develop and generate regular and ad hoc reports for pharmacy management, focusing on key performance metrics (KPIs) like cost reduction, inventory optimization, and patient satisfaction.
• Monitor and track medication costs, reimbursement rates, and drug pricing to identify opportunities for cost savings.
• Collaborate with pharmacy staff to improve medication management processes and ensure timely and accurate dispensing of medications.
• Analyze patient data to identify potential areas for improving clinical outcomes through better medication adherence and therapy optimization.
• Ensure pharmacy operations comply with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as internal policies and industry standards.
• Support the development of strategic initiatives by providing data-driven insights for pharmacy improvements and innovations.
• Work with IT and pharmacy systems teams to maintain and enhance data collection and reporting tools.
• Identify and resolve data discrepancies or issues related to pharmacy data systems.
• Assist in preparing reports for internal and external audits related to pharmacy operations and finances.
• Regular and reliable attendance expected.

Minimum Knowledge, Abilities, And Skills Required

Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, healthcare, business analytics, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

Experience working in a pharmacy, healthcare, or clinical setting.

Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (Excel, SQL, Power BI, etc.).

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Familiarity with pharmacy management systems and electronic health record (EHR) software.

Knowledge of pharmaceutical regulations, including HIPAA and FDA standards.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to present data findings clearly to stakeholders.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with pharmacy benefit management (PBM) systems or other healthcare IT systems.

Certification in pharmacy analytics or data management (e.g., CPHT, Pharmacy Technician, etc.).

Knowledge of healthcare industry trends, especially related to pharmaceuticals and patient care.
