Job Summary: The Custodian/Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in buildings and facilities. This position performs routine cleaning tasks and minor maintenance duties to ensure the upkeep of the property. Also responsible for the general care and maintenance of outdoor grounds, landscaping, and exterior facilities. This role ensures the property is clean, attractive, and safe.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, offices, classrooms, hallways, and other areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors.
- Empty trash receptacles and replace liners.
- Restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
- Clean windows, doors, and glass surfaces.
- Report maintenance or repair needs to appropriate personnel.
- Set up and break down furniture and equipment for events.
- Secure buildings by locking doors and windows.
- Mow, trim, and edge lawns using hand and power tools.
- Plant, water, fertilize, and maintain flowers, shrubs, and trees.
- Rake leaves and remove weeds.
- Perform snow and ice removal from walkways and driveways.
- Collect and dispose of yard debris and litter.
- Maintain walkways, floor markings, along with painting inside or outside as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Knowledge of lawn care equipment and safety procedures.
- Ability to perform heavy physical labor and work outdoors in all weather.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
