Anode Technology Company
San Francisco, CA Full Time
POSTED ON 4/10/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 7/31/2026

Senior System Integration & Test Engineer

Location: San Francisco, CA (On-site / Hybrid)

Company: Anode Technology Company

About Us

Anode exists to accelerate the monumental shift away from the supersystem of extraction, processing, and burning of fossil fuels—toward lightweight capture and consumption from entirely renewable sources. We’re building scalable, silent, flexible, and efficient mobile energy infrastructure to power the zero-emission future. Our mobile battery energy storage systems (mBESS) represent a new category of clean, deployable power.

Position Overview

Anode is seeking a Senior System Integration & Test Engineer to become the first dedicated hire in this function, helping to lay the groundwork for a robust integration and test discipline across our mobile energy platform. This is a foundational, hands-on role responsible for supporting early-stage prototype development, system integration, test infrastructure, and fast-turn testing to inform continuous product evolution.

You will work closely with hardware, firmware, and systems engineering teams to bring up and validate full-system prototypes, create and execute fit-for-purpose test plans, and help build the tools and processes that will mature with the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Integration & Test Leadership: Act as the system integration & test lead for early mBESS system prototypes—planning and executing tests that generate rapid, actionable insights to guide product development.
  • Build & Validate Prototypes: Support system integration and bring-up of full-system prototypes, subsystems, and test benches. Contribute directly to lab builds, instrumentation, and test fixture design.
  • Requirements-Based Verification: Conduct system-level testing and verification activities to ensure design outputs meet defined engineering and performance requirements. Identify and document deviations, nonconformances, and functional gaps, and collaborate with engineering teams to drive timely resolution.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with firmware and hardware teams to validate system communications, control, and power delivery—including low-voltage control systems, high-voltage subsystems, and safety-critical features.
  • Test Planning: Develop test strategies and procedures that reflect the maturity of the product and the urgency of development cycles. Determine how and when to scale testing infrastructure and documentation.
  • Data-Driven Validation: Execute and automate testing activities; collect and analyze performance data to inform design decisions. Produce clear, concise reports to accelerate iteration and product learning.
  • Test Infrastructure Development: Build and maintain custom test benches, diagnostics tools, and system simulators to support development and verification testing.
  • Field and Lab Testing: Coordinate both in-house and external testing activities, including environmental, durability, and compliance testing.
  • Scalable Processes: Contribute to the foundation of an integration and test program that will evolve and grow with the product—from quick-turn validation to production-grade reliability testing.

Qualifications

Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering (or related discipline)
  • 6 years of experience in system integration and testing of complex electromechanical or energy systems
  • Strong hands-on experience building and operating test benches and instrumentation for power and embedded systems
  • Working knowledge of high-voltage, low-voltage, and communications systems integration (CAN, MODBUS TCP/IP, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in an early-stage, fast-paced hardware development environment
  • Ability to design and execute test plans quickly and effectively, with clear communication of findings
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, both electrical and mechanical

Preferred:

  • Experience with mobile or stationary battery energy storage systems, EV powertrains, or renewable energy systems
  • Familiarity with BMS, inverters, and HV safety systems
  • Experience in test automation using Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW
  • Understanding of compliance and safety testing (UL, IEC, NFPA, etc.)
  • Exposure to system-level validation of thermal, vibration, and EMI/EMC performance

Why This Role Matters

As our first System Integration & Test Engineer, you will shape how our team validates products, tests new ideas, and delivers reliable energy systems to market. You’ll be joining a company at a pivotal moment—building and testing full-system prototypes for the first time—and your contributions will directly influence product direction, design quality, and engineering culture.
