Position Overview

Annunciation School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic First Grade Teacher to serve as a leave replacement beginning in October 2025. This temporary position offers the opportunity to work within our faith-centered learning community, supporting young learners during a critical stage of their academic and spiritual development.

Essential Responsibilities

The successful candidate will plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with curriculum standards and Catholic educational values. This role involves creating a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that supports the spiritual, academic, social, and emotional growth of first-grade students, while implementing differentiated instruction strategies to meet diverse learning needs and abilities.

The teacher will assess student progress through various evaluation methods, maintain accurate records, and communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities. Collaboration with grade-level teams, support staff, and administration is essential, as is active participation in school-wide activities, liturgies, and Catholic traditions. The position requires integrating Catholic teachings and values into daily instruction and classroom management, supervising students during assigned duties such as lunch, recess, and dismissal, and maintaining a safe, organized, and welcoming learning environment.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or a related field, along with a valid state teaching license or certification for elementary education. Experience teaching elementary students, preferably first grade, is required, as are strong classroom management skills and excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Proficiency in educational technology and digital learning platforms is essential, and candidates must demonstrate a commitment to Catholic education and the school's mission.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree in Education or a related field and previous experience in Catholic school settings. Knowledge of early childhood development and literacy instruction is highly valued, as are bilingual capabilities if applicable to the school community. Experience with specific curriculum programs used by the school is also preferred.

Personal Qualities

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for working with young children, along with patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for teaching. Strong organizational and time management skills are essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. The position requires flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic school environment, and candidates must show respect for Catholic teachings and traditions.
