Administrative Assistant
Annie’s Hope – The Center for Grieving Kids is a community-based nonprofit whose mission is to serve children, teens, and their families who are grieving a death. The organization began in 1998 with three board members meeting over a cup of coffee. Over the last 25 years, Annie’s Hope has grown to offer 10 free programs and services with the support of 500 volunteers and 11 staff persons. The vision of Annie’s Hope is to be the “first choice” center for grieving kids and families in the greater St. Louis region.
Annie’s Hope is in search of an experienced writer familiar with local grant makers. The ideal candidate possesses an eye for detail and values integrity, honesty, teamwork, and excellence. This position focuses on increasing revenue through prospect research, accurate data reporting, administrative tasks, and well-written submissions aligning the organization with funder interests.

- Represent Annie’s Hope in a positive manner.
- Willingness and ability to convey warmth, compassion, respect, and non-judgment to persons experiencing grief.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Strong work ethic, commitment to efficient use of time, and ability to work independently.
- Ability to collect and analyze outcome data.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, or equivalent plus exceptional written and verbal communication skills is required.
- Familiarity with local and regional grant makers and knowledge of trends impacting philanthropy in St. Louis.
- Proven success in securing grants and reporting outcomes.
- Detail-oriented team player with the ability to multi-task and prioritize a variety of projects.
Duties and Expectations:
- Research grant makers to expand the organization’s current portfolio of funders.
- Maintain current information on existing funders and document interactions in Salesforce CRM.
- Draft unique applications that demonstrate alignment between grant makers and Annie’s Hope programs, and gather all documents required for submissions.
- Utilize stewardship skills to build relationships with funders.
- Colaberate on a calendar of due dates for applications and reports.
- Submit applications and reports in a timely fashion.
- Support fundraising events as a volunteer.
- Maintain an accurate time allocation worksheet.
- Function as a member of the fundraising team.
- Contribute personally to Annie’s Hope through a “best stretch” monetary gift.
- Serve as an Ambassador for Annie’s Hope in the St. Louis region.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships:
- This position reports to the Philanthropy Director
Hours and Benefits:
- This position is an “at-will,” 20 hours / 3-days per week, non-exempt role.
- Paid Time Off (PTO) is accrued, plus a minimum of eight pre-determined holidays, the day after Thanksgiving, and any workdays between Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve.
