Position Summary:
We are seeking a creative, compassionate, and highly organized Activity Coordinator to join our team. The Activity Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing a wide range of activities and events that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being for our residents. This role plays a vital part in enriching the lives of seniors by providing daily engagement, social connection, and meaningful experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and implement a monthly calendar of engaging activities, outings, and events for residents of all ability levels.
- Encourage resident participation and tailor activities to meet diverse interests, abilities, and needs.
- Lead group activities such as games, arts and crafts, music, fitness, educational programs, and social events.
- Collaborate with residents, families, caregivers, and staff to develop a well-rounded and inclusive activities program.
- Coordinate with outside vendors, entertainers, and volunteers when needed.
- Track resident participation and gather feedback to improve and enhance the program.
- Ensure all activities are conducted in a safe, respectful, and supportive environment.
- Decorate and set up common areas for special events and seasonal celebrations.
- Assist with transportation or escorting residents to and from activities when needed.
- Maintain accurate records, budgets, and supply inventories.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; additional training in recreation, gerontology, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with seniors, preferably in an assisted living or long-term care setting.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to motivate and engage individuals in group settings.
- Creativity, enthusiasm, and a passion for improving the lives of others.
- Must be dependable, flexible, and able to work some evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and calendar creation.
Working Conditions:
- This position may involve standing for long periods, lifting light materials, and moving throughout the facility.
- Interaction with residents may involve assisting with mobility or adapting activities to meet physical and cognitive limitations.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
