Description
The Anne Arundel County of Department of Social Services is looking for a Family Investment Specialist I to determine technical and financial eligibility and provide case management services for Family Investment Administration programs in accordance with Federal, State, and local regulations for the Emergency Services to Adults and Family (ESAF) unit.
Key Responsibilities
1. Complete customer interviews and pend applications in all program areas, to include screening for expedited Food Stamps and processing expedited Food Stamps, within established time frames. At all times, the incumbent will provide customer service to both internal and external customs that meets or exceeds the standards set by the Department. Services will be provided onsite and offsite within the Community Outreach Program (Public Libraries and other sites as identified.)
2. Determine eligibility timely, in accordance with federal and state policy and procedures, in order to yield an on-time rate of 97% or better.
3. Maintain payment accuracy within established guidelines, as measured by PIRAMID Pre-Reviews and Quality Control (QC) reviews.
4. Complete caseload/case maintenance activities daily, including but not limited to: Accurately dispositioning 100% of New Hires alerts on or before the designated due dates; processing other interim changes; ABAWD screening and work requirements; processing existing cases for reconsideration of continued benefits; completing caseworker check off lists to ensure that applications, reconsiderations and interim changes are processed timely; narrating case actions in the E & E automated system within 24 hours, if the system is available; and maintaining the work area to include timely handling of mail and filing of records.
5. To provide mass care and sheltering to surviving persons following a disaster affecting residents of Anne Arundel County and the State of Maryland, when necessary. These duties may include manning a shelter or assisting residents to file for assistance from FEMA or from State programs.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Six months of public contact experience involving negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling data, performing analysis of data, writing correspondence, and completing mathematical or legal tasks.
OR
Six months of general office, retail, food service, construction trades, or similar experience including data entry, record filing and maintenance, multi-line phone use, general computer skills and email software. General clerical, data processing, technical or administrative experience is defined as work performing a variety of duties which are clear-cut and typically found in office settings, such as filing, copying, inputting data, general computer skills, and directing telephone calls.
OR
Six months of experience in the U.S. Armed Forces.
