What are the responsibilities and job description for the ESL Basic Skills Instructor position at Anne Arundel Community College?
ESL Basic Skills Instructor Class Description: Classes are designed for students who are at the literacy or beginning levels. Classroom environment is multi-level; students are pre-tested and instruction is based on their needs, levels and the Core ESL Content Standards of the Maryland State Department of Education.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in any field, Education/TESL preferred.
- 1-year experience ESL teaching or tutoring preferred.
NOTE: Those without an Education/TESL degree and ESL experience are advised to take (ESL 380) Introduction to Teaching ESL, or complete the Introduction to Teaching Continuing Education Certificate Program offered at AACC.
- Experience working with adult students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Ability to teach multiple levels within the same classroom.
- Strong organizational skills for managing and completing administrative paperwork.
Availability
Summer, fall and spring terms, days, evenings, and weekends; various locations throughout Anne Arundel County.
