Job Description

Provides leadership within designated area of responsibility to manage patient care operations and ensure the delivery of excellent patient care. Leads team in creating a work environment that engages staff in the attainment of department and organizational goals and vision. Understands and integrates into the delivery of patient care the needs of the neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, and adult patient in regards to their growth and development process. Actively leads continuous improvement in safety, quality, and customer service, through behavior modeling and by provision of work environment conducive to attaining these goals.

  • Provides administrative direction for clinical practice, monitoring compliance with policies, procedures and standards. Coordinates patient care delivery systems. Assists in developing and achieving goals and objectives utilizing a participative approach.
  • Assures CQI/QM processes are utilized to improve performance. Assures proper function of Respiratory in conjunction with the nursing and medical leadership.
  • Coordinates with the transport team regarding team composition.
  • Participates in planning programs relative to respiratory care, e.g. the care of long-term ventilator-dependent patients, clinical pathways, and new therapies. Allocates educational resources to the patient care areas. Twenty-four-hour accountability for problem resolution and assuring standard of care is maintained.
  • Directs, reviews and revises patient charge procedures; verifies charges with other institutions and develops charges for new patient procedures. Directs the preparation and maintenance of statistics for patient care reviews, budget planning, personnel turnover and other related operations.
  • Ensures the availability of proper and functioning equipment for the delivery of respiratory care. Collaborates with Infection Control to establish guidelines for equipment infection control and safe utilization. Ensures aseptic and sterile techniques are maintained. Coordinates Preventative maintenance program.
  • Assures compliance with requirements set by governing bodies. Plans and implements system changes that enhance the organizational performance.
  • Develops and proposes new programs conjunction with the nursing and medical leadership and administrator.
  • Responsible for clinical efficiency and cost effectiveness of new equipment and its maintenance.
  • Identifies opportunities for and develops interdependent teams: serves as a coordinating link between patient care areas and other Hospital departments on broad-based issues. Identifies team opportunities, develops interdependent teams and oversees their activities.
  • Accountable for financial management within areas of responsibility: coordinates and prepares annual operational, capital and personnel budgets for the unit or cost centers. This includes assuring the budgetary guidelines are met by monitoring monthly expenses and revenues.
  • Effectively leads and manages people resources: responsible for the human resources management of all employees. This includes recruitment, selection, direction, discipline, counseling and discharge activities. Assures adherence to hospital personnel guidelines for employee performance.
  • Facilitates collaborative partnerships with physicians and nurses to ensure that the needs of patients are met. Ensures compliance with all regulatory agency standards, i.e.. Federal; state, city, and professional.

$119,600.00-$197,350.40 Salary

The pay range for this job indicates minimum and maximum targets for the position. Ranges are regularly reviewed to stay aligned with market conditions.
