JOB DESCRIPTION Under the direction of the Assistant Manager of Fleet Services, the Fleet Services Supervisor oversees the maintenance, repair, servicing, and readiness of Authority vehicles and equipment. This position supervises Fleet Services Technicians, Service Crew personnel, and other assigned staff; prioritizes and assigns work; ensures compliance with safety and maintenance standards; and supports the efficient operation of fleet services activities. The Fleet Services Supervisor coordinates daily operations, monitors work quality and productivity, manages staffing and resources, and serves as a first-line supervisor responsible for employee performance, training, and labor relations matters. Fleet Operations and Maintenance Plan and coordinate staffing, schedules, overtime, and workload assignments to ensure operational requirements and vehicle availability needs are met. Provide technical leadership and guidance in diagnosing and resolving complex maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting issues. Inspect completed repairs and maintenance activities and authorize vehicle release for service when established standards have been met. Monitor and evaluate the work of contractors and vendors performing fleet-related maintenance and support services. Respond to emergencies, road calls, and operational disruptions, making timely decisions to maintain service continuity. Supervision and Leadership Conduct employee performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching, counseling, and development opportunities. Participate in recruitment, interviewing, selection, onboarding, and retention of assigned employees. Interpret and administer collective bargaining agreements, personnel policies, and work rules, serving as the first level of employee dispute resolution. Safety and Compliance Ensure compliance with Authority safety policies and applicable regulatory requirements. Promote safe work practices and investigate workplace incidents as assigned. Monitor facility, equipment, and worksite conditions to identify and correct safety concerns. Ensure proper use of tools, equipment, materials, and hazardous substances. Partner with Safety Officer to investigate workplace accidents, injuries, and safety incidents; complete required documentation and implement corrective actions to reduce future risk. Inventory and Resource Management Coordinate with logistics, procurement, vendors, and contractors regarding parts, supplies, and services. Monitor inventory levels, parts usage, tools, materials, and operational supplies to ensure availability, accountability, and cost-effective utilization of resources. Authorize purchases within delegated authority and support efficient resource utilization. Communication and Continuous Improvement Maintain effective communication with employees, management, vendors, and other departments. Utilize maintenance management systems and operational data to analyze fleet performance, identify trends, support decision-making, and maintain accurate records and reports. Support process improvements that enhance safety, service quality, efficiency, and cost effectiveness. Participate in professional development and departmental training activities. Coordinate operational activities with other departments, shifts, and facilities, and provide supervisory coverage or support as needed.
