This position ensures all scheduled outpatient services are pre-registered and authorization are obtained. Also ensures timely authorization, pre-registration and pre-collections of patient responsibilities are obtained. Pursues in-service education for one-self and remain abreast of current CMS regulations and guidelines as related to compliance. Ensure that key authorization indicators are met, which includes but is not limited to pre-collections, pre-registration, patient confidentiality and contract management activities. Maintains and exhibits a positive, supportive and safety conscious attitude, leading by example.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure all outpatient scheduled services are authorized if necessary.
- Insurance coverage is verified and communicate/collect patient responsibilities.
- Remains abreast of AnMed’s Managed Care contracted insurance carries.
- Ensuring that contractual requirements and obligations are communicated to the patient.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all types and levels of individuals.
- Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid guidelines.
- Performs departmental performance evaluations and annual education requirements and provides feedback to the managing staff to ensure consistency in application of the performance review process.
- Complete education and training provided AnMed.
- Performs additional duties as assigned to meet AnMed’s needs.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience with customer service.
- Minimum two years’ experience with Healthcare Business Services or Patient Access Services.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associates or higher degree but will consider appropriate experience in Healthcare Business Services or Patient Access Services.
- Prior training experience.
- Knowledge of Corporate Compliance issues in regard to HIPPA.
