SUMMARY
As a member of the multidisciplinary team, the Behavioral Emergency Response Team (BERT) Technician provides quality patient care for psychiatric/behavioral health patients under the supervision and direction of licensed nursing personnel in the hospital setting.
SOME SPECIFIC DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:
- Proactively rounds on patients identified as high risk for violence.
- Encourages open communication with patients to provide an atmosphere of comfort and safety.
- Documents observations about patients that are rounded on in the electronic medical record.
- Responds to a behavioral emergency event and is the lead in talking to the patient about the situation.
- Works in conjunction with the rest of the Behavioral Emergency Response Team to help formulate a plan for the patient.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or GED required
- Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills required
- Minimum of one year in behavioral health preferred
