Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques.
- Handle animals safely and confidently, utilizing proper restraint techniques to ensure the well-being of pets and staff.
- Perform animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, bathing, grooming, and monitoring health status to promote optimal animal care.
- Conduct laboratory tests, prepare samples, and operate diagnostic equipment including X-ray machines to support accurate diagnoses.
- Manage pet records meticulously, including documenting treatments, administering medications, and updating patient histories with veterinary terminology.
- Support dental procedures
- Assist in animal catheterization, sample collection, and other veterinary critical care procedures with precision and attention to detail.
- Maintain cleanliness of kennels, treatment areas, and surgical suites
- Support pet owners with education on pet care, grooming needs, dog training basics, and post-operative instructions to enhance client satisfaction.
Requirements
- Prior kennel experience or animal handling experience preferred demonstrating comfort working with diverse species including dogs, cats, and equines.
- Knowledge of veterinary basic pet care practices preferred
- Experience with laboratory procedures, X-ray operation, or veterinary critical care is highly desirable.
- Strong animal restraint skills combined with proficiency in dog and cat handling or the desire to learn these skills.
- Ability to perform aseptic techniques during surgical or invasive procedures while maintaining a high standard of cleanliness.
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment and pet health monitoring tools
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and educate pet owners about animal care needs.
- A proactive attitude with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced veterinary setting. Including but not limited to answering phone calls, returning phone calls, checking patients in/out and scheduling appointments.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $12.00 - $25.00 per hour
