ABOUT THE JOB
The Controller is an integral member of the Accounting and Finance Team, and a key support to the Chief Financial Officer. Serving as a leader, the Controller will manages both the Accounting and Payroll Teams, orchestrates the planning and direction of the firm's accounting operations, and lends valuable support to general accounting management, internal controls formulation and review, and financial statement preparation and analysis. The Controller will excels in navigating complex, confidential matters, proving to be a strategic ally to both Firm leadership and the Chief Financial Officer.
This position is based in our corporate offices in Portland, Oregon, and an on-site presence of at least three days per week is anticipated.

What will you do in this role?
You will…
- Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk
- Responsible for the integrity and reporting of the monthly financial statements; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards
- Responsible for the daily monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing of the inflow and outflow of cash
- Prepare timely and insightful financial analysis with emphasis on monthly financial statement variances vs. budget, forecast, and prior year
- Monitors key financial and operational metrics to determine progress against strategic plan, budget, and forecast
- Track and report against monthly financial covenants ensuring actual and forecasted compliance
- Assists in the creation of the annual budget and monthly forecasts
- Works with the CFO to identify opportunities for profitability enhancement
- Manage a high-performance team, set individual goals, provide regular feedback, and create opportunities for development
- Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audits.
- Establishes and maintains a quality partnership with the human resources team on the facilitation, audit, and review of the Firm's ESOP, 401(k), and other benefits programs.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
LEADERSHIP & MENTORSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees the operations of the Accounting Department, which include billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll
- Oversees training programs and identifies training needs
What you bring to be successful.
- Bachelor degree in Accounting required
- Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation or current pursuit of either certification a plus
- 10 plus years progressive accounting experience including prior Controller experience required
- Advanced knowledge of: MS Office Suite especially Excel
- Deltek VantagePoint and UKG Ready experience a plus
- A/C/E experience preferred
