Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Medical Back Office Assistant (Clinical) to join our team. This role is essential to patient care and clinic flow, combining clinical support, documentation, and coordination responsibilities.
Medical back office experience is required. Scibing and EMR history is a plus.
Paid training will be provided for our EMR system (ModMed).
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional, friendly patient interaction during intake and throughout visits
- Perform patient rooming, vitals, and initial clinical documentation
- Assist physicians with scribing and medical note documentation
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records (EMR)
- Schedule appointments, surgeries, imaging, and procedures
- Coordinate MRI, CT scans, labs, and pre-operative clearances (H&Ps)
- Assist with insurance authorizations for procedures and testing
- Prepare rooms and assist with minor procedures and dressing changes
- Maintain clean and sterile technique standards
- Ensure smooth patient flow by coordinating with providers and front office staff
- Answer phones and assist front desk when needed
- Adhere strictly to HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality standards
Required Qualifications
- Prior experience in a medical back office or clinical healthcare setting (required)
- Strong understanding of medical terminology
- Experience with EMR systems (ModMed experience is a plus)
- Ability to scribe and assist with clinical documentation
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and patient service skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
Preferred Skills
- Experience in surgical scheduling
- Knowledge of pre-operative workflows and coordination
- Experience scheduling diagnostic testing (MRI, CT, labs)
