The Animal Rescue League of Boston (ARL), one of New England’s leading animal welfare organizations, is seeking a Medical Director, Community Medicine to help shape and grow our community veterinary programs.
This is a unique opportunity for a skilled clinician who wants to remain hands-on in practice while also guiding a team, strengthening clinical standards, and helping expand innovative, community-centered care models. This role is approximately 90% clinical and 10% leadership, offering the best of both worlds for a veterinarian who values both impact and practice.
About the role:
The Medical Director, Community Medicine is a working leader. We are looking for a practicing veterinarian who delivers high-quality medical and surgical care while also providing steady, day-to-day leadership to the Community Medicine team.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring clinical excellence, mentoring veterinarians, and helping to build sustainable, high-impact programs that meet the needs of the communities we serve.
Weekly travel to ARL's off-site Community Medicine programs, located in Boston and across the South Shore, is required.

What we offer:
- Competitive salary ranging from $125,000 to $135,000 annually;
- A regular schedule of four eight-hour workdays per week (32 hours weekly);
