Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Receptionist to join our veterinary team. This vital role involves providing exceptional customer service, managing appointment scheduling, and supporting the clinical staff with various administrative and animal care tasks. Prior experience in animal handling, kennel operations, or veterinary critical care is highly desirable to ensure smooth clinic operations and excellent pet care.
Responsibilities
- Greet clients and their pets in a professional and friendly manner, ensuring a positive experience
- Manage appointment scheduling, cancellations, and follow-ups efficiently
- Handle medical collections and process payments accurately
- Maintain accurate patient records and update client information in the database
- Assist with kennel duties including animal husbandry, feeding, cleaning, and monitoring pet behavior
- Support veterinary staff with animal restraint, handling, and basic animal care procedures such as dog training or pet grooming when needed
- Prepare animals for examinations or procedures using proper restraint techniques and knowledge of animal anatomy
- Assist with laboratory tasks such as sample collection or processing using aseptic techniques
- Support veterinary critical care activities including animal catheterization or other specialized procedures as trained
- Maintain cleanliness of reception area and ensure compliance with infection control protocols including aseptic techniques
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding pet care instructions, treatment plans, and follow-up appointments
Experience
- Previous experience in veterinary clinics, kennels, or animal shelters is preferred
- Computer experience is required
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal restraint techniques, and pet care practices is highly desirable
- Skills in medical collection processes and laboratory procedures are advantageous
- Experience with animal handling and animal husbandry
- Familiarity with veterinary critical care procedures such as animal catheterization or aseptic techniques is a plus
- Strong communication skills combined with a genuine passion for animals are essential for success in this role
- Experience with Avimark is recommended
- Proper grammar is required
