Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures, ensuring all protocols are followed with precision.
- Perform animal restraint and handling to facilitate safe and stress-free procedures for pets and staff.
- Conduct laboratory tests, prepare samples, and analyze results to aid in accurate diagnoses.
- Maintain aseptic techniques during procedures to prevent infections and ensure patient safety.
- Manage pet care routines including feeding, grooming, administering medications, and monitoring recovery.
- Take and process radiographs (X-ray) while ensuring proper positioning and safety measures are adhered to.
- Support animal husbandry activities such as cleaning kennels, feeding animals, and maintaining a clean clinical environment.
- Assist with dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and supporting oral health treatments.
- Handle dog training and pet grooming tasks as needed to improve animal comfort and behavior.
- Maintain detailed medical records, update patient charts, and document all treatments accurately.
Qualifications
- Previous kennel experience or animal care background preferred; strong animal husbandry skills are essential.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and critical care practices.
- Experience with laboratory procedures, X-ray techniques, and aseptic methods is highly desirable.
- Ability to handle dogs confidently using proper restraint techniques; familiarity with dog training is a plus.
- Skilled in animal catheterization, restraint, and general pet care procedures.
- Excellent animal handling skills across various species including dogs, cats, and equine (horse) experience is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
