Position Overview
Animal House Project is seeking a compassionate, organized, and motivated volunteer to serve as a Rescue Adoption Coordinator. This vital role helps connect homeless animals with loving forever families while ensuring adopters receive guidance, communication, and support throughout the adoption process.
The Adoption Coordinator serves as one of the primary points of contact for potential adopters and plays a key role in helping rescued animals find safe, appropriate, and loving homes.

Flexible volunteer opportunity with in-person responsibilities. Consistency and responsiveness are extremely important due to the time-sensitive nature of animal placements and adoption inquiries.

This vital role helps connect homeless animals with loving forever families while ensuring adopters receive guidance, communication, and support throughout the adoption process.
The Adoption Coordinator serves as one of the primary points of contact for potential adopters and plays a key role in helping rescued animals find safe, appropriate, and loving homes.
Key Responsibilities
Animal Marketing & Promotion
- Take quality photos and videos of adoptable animals
- Create engaging adoption biographies and social media posts
- Post animals on adoption websites, rescue platforms, Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet, Facebook, and other approved channels
- Share updates, success stories, and adoption announcements
- Review and organize incoming adoption applications
- Respond to inquiries from interested adopters in a timely and professional manner
- Conduct phone/email interviews with applicants
- Assist with reference checks and landlord verification when required
- Help determine appropriate adopter matches based on the animal’s needs and temperament
- Answer questions regarding available animals, adoption process, medical care, temperament, and expectations
- Maintain communication with applicants throughout the process
- Coordinate meet-and-greet appointments and adoption events
- Provide adoption follow-up support when needed
- Work closely with foster homes, rescue volunteers, transporters, and veterinary partners
- Maintain organized records of applications, adoptions, and communications
- Help track adoption status and ensure paperwork is completed properly
- Assist at adoption events and community outreach activities when available
- Help represent Animal House Project and SafeHaven Animal Rescue Team professionally and compassionately
- Strong communication and people skills
- Compassion for animals and people alike
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Comfortable using email, social media, and online adoption platforms
- Ability to multitask and respond professionally under pressure
- Basic photography/social media experience is helpful but not required
- Prior rescue or animal welfare experience preferred, but not mandatory
