What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant position at Animal Hospital of Loves Park?
We here at the Animal Hospital of Loves Park, located at 5036 N 2nd St Loves Park 61111, are looking for either a Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant to join our staff! Experience in the veterinary field is required. Blood drawing and I.V. catheter placing skills are required as well. If you feel like you qualify, apply!
Below is an overview of what is to be expected when working at this clinic:
(You will not be expected to do all of these things every day but to have knowledge of how to do them in case needed. You will be working with 1-3 other staff members at a time, so don't let this seem overwhelming!)
Reception: Answering the phone, learning/using the practices software/digitizing notes, use of payment systems, printing/scanning documents, faxing prescriptions/files, filing, communicating with clients/relaying information to and from the doctor.
Technical: Restraining animals (exams, procedures, etc), drawing blood/placing I.V. catheters, assisting during exams and surgery, vaccinating/giving shots and medication, assisting with euthanasias, filling prescriptions, preparing/running lab samples.
Cleaning: Vacuuming and mopping, laundry, maintaining a clean lobby/exam rooms/surgery room/kennels (cleaning up accidents, wiping down exam tables, end of day vacuuming and mopping the exam rooms and lobbies), cleaning surgical instruments after surgery, use of the ultrasonic and autoclave machines, kennels of patients and boarders, picking up after bathroom use outside, taking out trash.
We are currently looking for part-time employees (3-8 hours per shift) with the possibility of more hours in the future. Scheduling can potentially be anywhere between Mondays and Fridays, with a rotating schedule on weekends (the clinic is open Saturdays 9 am - 12 pm and evening kennels if there are boarders. The clinic is closed on Sundays except for morning and evening kennels only if there are boarders.)
