Summary
The Veterinary Technician provides exceptional care of both patients and clients by service as an extension of the veterinarian. The ER/ICU Technician is expected to promote professional growth through education and learning opportunities. This position will report directly to the ER/ICU Support Team Managers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following is a list of job responsibilities for the Veterinary Technician. This list is not all-inclusive and may be broadened or changed to meet our changing business environment:
- Complete medical procedures and treatments as directed by DVM in charge of the case.
- Demonstrate high level math skills.
- Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of medications and diseases.
- Report any sentinel events to DVM and Charge Technician-ensure DVM reports sentinel event.
- Confirm treatments and charges are correct in EMR.
- Collect and run diagnostics as ordered by DVM.
- Perform quality controls and maintenance of lab and medical equipment, troubleshooting when necessary.
- Be responsible to work scheduled rotation or find replacement when needed
- Adhere to AERC Guidebook and AERC Core Values and AAHA requirements
- Adhere to compliance and procedure protocols
- Full-time team members are required to work a minimum of 30 hours per week. Part-time team members are required to work a minimum of 30 hours per month, but not more than 29.5 hours in one week.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- A.AS. or B.S. Degree in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA accredited school
- Current certification, license, or registration as a Veterinary Technician. VTS is a plus
- Two years in practice
Physical Requirements
- Excessive walking and standing, frequent squatting
- Able to work at all clinic locations
- Incur risk of injury from animals
- Ability to work well under pressure and high levels of stress
- Incur exposure to zoonotic diseases, radiation, anesthesia and possible hazardous medications or substances
Salary : $23 - $33
