What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hospitalist Veterinarian (NO Overnights!) - Bel Air, MD position at Animal Emergency Hospital (Bel Air, MD)?
[1] Animal Emergency Hospital (AEH) in Bel Air, MD is seeking a Hospitalist Veterinarian to manage ICU patients in collaboration with our experienced and growing ER team! 2 years’ experience in an ER or Hospitalist role is required.
The Hospitalist Veterinarian’s primary responsibility will be to receive transfers from the emergency veterinarians that require hospitalization. Patients may be transferred the same day, the following day, or may be discharged by hospitalist on the following day. They will also perform rechecks of discharged ICU patients for things like blood work, bandage changes, etc.
Secondary responsibility would include receiving minor follow-up appointments that come through as "same day emergencies" as well as low acuity emergencies (i.e., urgent care). Duties will include assisting in the intake and management of hospitalized emergency patients, creating and recommending treatment plans, maintaining and updating medical records and facilitating transfers to the appropriate specialty service as needed.
This would be a daytime only position, with every other weekend required. Comprehensive in-house diagnostic testing capabilities including CBC, Chemistry, Electrolytes, Coagulation panels- PT/PTT, I-Stat with blood gas analysis, Quantitative BNP, CPL, and cortisol testing, Urinalysis, Fecal Analysis, PCV / TS, Canine 4Dx, Parvo, Feline Heartworm, FELV, FIV testing, Blood pressure, EKG, Pulse Ox, Tonometry, etc.
