Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)
Animal Clinic of North Topeka is looking for an experienced and compassionate Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team!
We are a busy, full-service small animal veterinary practice committed to providing high-quality medicine while creating a positive experience for our patients, clients, and team members. We are looking for an RVT who is confident in their skills, enjoys working as part of a team, and genuinely cares about the patients in their care.
As a Registered Veterinary Technician, you will play an important role in supporting our veterinarians and providing excellent patient care. This position is ideal for someone who is dependable, organized, compassionate, and comfortable working in a fast-paced veterinary environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality patient care
- Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and procedures
- Obtain and record patient histories and vital signs
- Collect and process laboratory samples
- Place IV catheters and administer medications and treatments
- Monitor patients during anesthesia and recovery
- Assist with surgical procedures and dental procedures
- Perform radiographs and other diagnostic procedures
- Maintain accurate medical records
- Educate clients regarding medications, treatments, nutrition, and preventative care
- Safely and compassionately handle and restrain dogs and cats
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of treatment and patient care areas
- Communicate effectively with veterinarians, technicians, client service representatives, and other team members
- Follow hospital protocols and safety procedures
- Provide support wherever needed to ensure excellent patient care and smooth daily hospital operations
Qualifications
- Current Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) credential in Kansas
- Veterinary technician experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of veterinary nursing and patient care
- Comfortable with anesthesia monitoring, laboratory procedures, radiology, and surgical support
- Excellent communication and client education skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a busy environment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
- Dependable, professional, and able to work well independently as well as with a team
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to veterinary medicine
- Ability to safely lift and restrain animals and perform the physical requirements of the position
