Associate Veterinarian - Small Animal

Schedule: Full-time, 4–5 days/week. No Saturdays! No Sundays! No after-hours emergencies. No on call. If you want four 9 hour days with the same day off every week, great! If you want to work 5 days and shorter hours, fantastic!

Are you a rockstar and want to see more and do routine vaccine appointments in 15 minutes? Fantastic! Are you still a rockstar and want 30 minutes for appointments? We can make that work too!

Love surgery? Fantastic! Hate surgery and never want to touch another scalpel ever again? That’s cool too... we can make it work!

Job Requirements:

• Graduated from an accredited veterinary school
• Maryland Veterinary License, Maryland Drug License, DEA license or ability to obtain these
• A little patience as the owner is new to this and is still trying to figure out how to be a boss after being an associate for almost 13 years.

Benefits

• Starting Salary: $125,000-$150,000 base (depending on experience) with 20% ProSal for additional earning potential. You can easily make over $200,000 a year depending on your case load and hours you want to work.
• Time Off You Can Actually Take: 3 weeks true PTO (no negative accrual and your production will be calculated off of the days you actually worked that month, not the full month). Paid major holidays.
• Continuing Education: $1,500 annual CE allowance 5 CE days (on top of your PTO). If you want to stack up a couple years for a bigger course, we can talk!
• Health Insurance: Full health insurance (medical, vision, and dental)
• Licensing: Veterinary license, DEA license, PLIT insurance, and AVMA dues all covered.
• Future Planning: 401(k) with employer match

The Animal Clinic of La Plata is under new ownership (me – yikes!) and we are in need of another veterinarian! We are a privately owned small animal clinic focusing on general medicine and surgery for dogs and cats. Serving southern Charles County Maryland since the 80s, we're located about 30 miles south of DC.

We aren’t corporate, so there aren’t any quotas you need to fill! You can say no to protect your sanity.

I can’t promise that there won’t be drama as I do frequently break into song and dance. Sarcasm abounds and there will be witty banter.

At one point we had 4 full-time vets and a part-time vet. Then it eventually dwindled down to just me before I ultimately purchased the clinic.
