Summary

The Pocatello Supply Depot (PSD) work unit located at Pocatello, Idaho, is responsible for manufacturing, warehousing, and selling vertebrate pesticides and other products for wildlife damage management.

Duties

Help

  • The duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Assists journeyman staff to manufacture and/or repackage predacides, rodenticides, avicides, and animal damage control devices.
  • Uses simple material handling equipment to move, lift, or prepare specialized equipment for assembly or disassembly.
  • Loads, unloads, and moves equipment, crates, boxes, and supplies by hand or with the use of a hand truck and/or dolly or other material-handling equipment.
  • Assembles or prepares equipment, parts, or materials for shipping or mailing.
  • Under supervision, assists journeymen to operate and maintain as instructed, precision cutting and forming machines, boring machines, punching machines and other general shop equipment.

  • Testing Designated Position: Selectee must submit to a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and random testing thereafter. Final appointment and continued employment is conditional on negative results for illegal drug use.
  • All USDA employees are required to be enrolled in Continuous Vetting, which authorizes government agencies to receive notifications of criminal activity on individuals who hold low risk, public trust, or national security positions.
  • Most work takes place in a shop atmosphere which can be noisy, dusty, and dirty.
  • The PSD uses several highly flammable chemicals, extremely toxic chemicals, and corrosive acids to manufacture the various products.
  • Machine tools require extreme care for safe operation.
  • The incumbent frequently handles objects weighing from 20 to 50 pounds and above


Qualifications

To qualify, you must show you have had training and experience of sufficient scope and quality to provide you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. When assessed through a score-based category rating method, CTAP/ICTAP applicants must receive a rating of at least 85 out of a possible 100.
  • First time hires to the federal government normally start at the lowest rate of the salary range for the grade selected.
  • Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will not be paid. Any travel, transportation, and relocation expense associated with reporting for duty will be the responsibility of the selected employee.
