What are the responsibilities and job description for the Administrative Assistant position at Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service?
As part of the administrative support team, you will perform specialized duties in a program area involving a wide variety of problems or situations; develop information, identify interrelationships, and take actions consistent with objectives of the function or program are served. Positions are available in both Veterinary Services (VS) and Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ).
FOR THE GS-07 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-06 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates:

- Coordinating overall administrative processes for an office in accordance with organizational guidelines.
- Maintaining and compiling a variety of administrative information into tables, charts, and reports.
- Researching and providing information to employees on regulations of administrative actions.
- Recommending new administrative procedures to facilitate changing program expectations.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
