Responsibilities:
- Prepare sushi dishes according to established recipes and standards
- Ensure the quality and freshness of ingredients used in sushi preparation
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, following food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations and timely service
- Assist with menu planning and development of new sushi dishes
- Monitor inventory levels and place orders for ingredients as needed
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations
Experience:
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role
- Knowledge of sushi preparation techniques and presentation
- Familiarity with different types of sushi rolls and traditional Japanese cuisine
- Ability to handle knives and other kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks
- Experience in catering or working in a dietary department is a plus
Skills:
- Food safety knowledge and understanding of proper food handling procedures
- Proficiency in menu planning, including creating sushi specials and seasonal offerings
- Ability to work well in a team environment, collaborating with other kitchen staff
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with customers and take special orders or dietary restrictions into consideration
- Knowledge of meal preparation techniques, including cooking rice, slicing fish, and assembling sushi rolls
- Familiarity with Japanese ingredients, such as nori, wasabi, soy sauce, and pickled ginger
