Key Responsibilities
Cost Estimating & Budgeting
- Develop and manage capital cost estimates and budgets across all project phases.
- Ensure estimates meet established governance and classification standards.
- Maintain the Basis of Estimate and estimate plans in collaboration with EPCM partners and internal teams.
- Apply appropriate contingency levels based on scope maturity, design detail, and risk profile.
- Track project costs, cash flow, commitments, and forecasts against approved budgets.
- Identify cost trends, variances, and emerging risks; recommend corrective actions.
- Evaluate financial impacts of scope changes, trends, and claims, and ensure timely incorporation into forecasts and reporting tools.
- Implement and maintain cost control frameworks, including WBS structures and cost coding, aligned with project schedules.
- Produce accurate, timely cost reports including variance analysis, cash flow forecasts, and executive-level summaries.
- Support and/or lead internal and external audits related to project costs and controls.
- Develop dashboards and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI) to enhance cost visibility and decision-making.
- Collaborate with business units, mine sites, and project teams to gather accurate cost and schedule data.
- Influence stakeholders to meet reporting timelines and maintain data integrity.
- Establish and support communication and stakeholder management plans across a portfolio of projects.
Experience & Education
- 7–10 years of experience in estimating, cost control, or project cost management, ideally within mining, heavy industrial, or process industries.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Master’s degree and/or CPA/CMA certification is a plus.
- Strong understanding of mining operations and capital project execution.
- Proven experience with SAP or similar ERP systems (Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.).
- Experience building and maintaining project dashboards using Power BI or similar tools.
- Familiarity with industry-recognized project management and cost control best practices.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large datasets and identify key cost drivers.
- Highly organized with strong prioritization and independent decision-making abilities.
- Clear, confident communicator with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborative team player with the confidence to lead discussions on cost performance and risk.
- Solid understanding of the mining value chain and how capital decisions impact overall project outcomes.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites, including Beatty, Nevada.
- Willingness to travel based on operational needs.
- Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as required by project demands.
