Position Summary:
The Logistics Coordinator / Truck Dispatcher will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing transportation logistics for construction and snow removal operations. This includes dispatching trucks and drivers, pulling permits of all kinds, and ensuring timely, safe, and compliant deliveries. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, resourceful, and able to make sound decisions under stress.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dispatch trucks, equipment, and drivers for construction and snow removal projects.
- Secure and manage transportation permits (local, state/provincial, regional, national, and international, specifically for U.S.–Canada operations).
- Monitor driver schedules, hours of service, and route planning to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Communicate with drivers, project managers, and leadership teams to adjust logistics in real-time as needs shift.
- Manage logistics documentation, including bills of lading, customs paperwork, and compliance records.
- Coordinate with third-party vendors and authorities for cross-border transportation.
- Troubleshoot issues such as delays, route changes, or equipment breakdowns in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, schedules, and permits.
- Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and international transportation regulations.
- Support continuous improvement in logistics processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Logistics Coordinator, Dispatcher, or similar role (preferably in construction, trucking, or snow removal industries).
- Strong knowledge of transportation permitting (local, regional, national, and international).
- Familiarity with U.S.–Canada cross-border trucking and customs documentation.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations and make quick, effective decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with drivers, managers, and external agencies.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in logistics software, dispatch systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and on-call, especially during peak construction and snow removal seasons.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the construction or snow removal industry.
- CDL knowledge or experience working directly with truck drivers.
- Bilingual (English/French) for Canadian logistics is a plus.
