Gravel Train Driver – CDL A with Doubles Endorsement
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Gravel Train Driver to safely and efficiently haul aggregates such as sand, gravel, and asphalt materials to and from job sites throughout Michigan. This position requires a valid CDL A license with doubles/triples endorsement and a strong commitment to safety, punctuality, and teamwork. The ideal candidate will have experience operating gravel trains, end dumps, and other heavy haul combinations in a construction or paving environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a gravel train truck and trailer combination to haul aggregate materials between job sites.
- Safely connect and disconnect doubles (lead and pup trailers) following DOT and company procedures.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and equipment.
- Maintain accurate driver logs, delivery tickets, and related paperwork.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, and site leaders to coordinate loads and routes.
- Comply with all DOT regulations, company safety policies, and load weight limits.
- Assist with tarping, cleaning, and minor maintenance of equipment as needed.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor while representing the company on job sites and public roadways.
Qualifications:
- Valid CDL A license with Doubles/Triples Endorsement (T) required.
- Minimum 2 years of CDL driving experience, preferably hauling gravel, asphalt, or bulk materials.
- Clean driving record and current DOT medical card.
- Working knowledge of Michigan weight and bridge laws.
- Ability to perform basic truck maintenance and daily inspections.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Reliable and punctual with strong communication skills.
Schedule & Pay:
- Full-time, year-round work (seasonal winter work may include snow removal or equipment transport).
- Typical schedule: Monday–Friday, 5:00 AM – 5:00 PM, occasional Saturdays as needed.
- Pay Range: $25 – $35 per hour depending on experience and performance.
- Overtime available.
