Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive grooming services including bathing, trimming, styling, nail trimming, and coat maintenance for a variety of dog breeds and other companion animals.
- Handle animals with care and confidence, utilizing proper restraint techniques to ensure safety for pets and yourself during grooming procedures.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners to understand their grooming preferences, provide pet care advice, and address any questions or concerns.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment by sanitizing grooming tools, equipment, and work areas after each appointment.
- Manage scheduling efficiently to accommodate client appointments while maintaining high-quality service standards.
- Assist with pet training techniques when appropriate to improve behavior during grooming sessions.
- Lift heavy equipment or pets safely as needed to ensure smooth workflow and safety compliance.
Experience
- Proven experience in pet grooming with a strong background in dog handling and animal care.
- Knowledge of veterinary procedures or veterinary technician experience is highly desirable to better understand pet health needs.
- Experience working with veterinary assistants or veterinary technicians is a plus for comprehensive animal care understanding.
- Familiarity with animal restraint techniques, pet coat styling, and pet nail trimming is essential.
- Background in dog training, animal handling, equine experience or similar fields enhances your ability to manage diverse animals confidently.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with pet owners about pet care routines and grooming preferences.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in a mobile setting.
