Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Speech-Language Pathologist or Occupational Therapist to go into a home and help with food therapy. This is for a 6 year old Autistic child who is fed through a G-Tube. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for patient care, especially within pediatric populations, and demonstrate expertise in speech therapy and occupational therapy practices. and developmental challenges, as well as supporting their overall function. The successful applicant will contribute to early intervention programs and collaborate closely with families, educators, and medical professionals to promote optimal developmental outcomes.
1 hour 2-3x a week. hours can be chosen from 4pm-5pm,5pm-6pm or 6pm-7pm.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to evaluate speech, language, cognitive, and motor skills in pediatric patients.
- Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each child's unique needs, focusing on speech therapy and occupational therapy goals.
- Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions aimed at improving communication skills, swallowing functions, fine motor skills, and daily living activities.
- Collaborate with teachers, caregivers, and medical staff to implement therapy strategies within educational and home environments.
- Monitor progress regularly and adjust treatment approaches to ensure continuous improvement.
- Educate families about therapy techniques, developmental milestones, and strategies for supporting ongoing progress at home.
- Maintain detailed documentation of patient evaluations, treatment sessions, progress notes, and discharge summaries in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Stay current with advances in physiology knowledge, anatomy understanding, medical terminology, and early intervention practices to enhance patient care quality.
- Provide therapeutic interventions for oral motor exercises and behavioral management for feeding refusal.
- Ensure safe swallowing to prevent choking or aspiration, including modifying food textures
- Maintain accurate documentation of evaluations and progress notes.
Skills
- Proven experience working with pediatric populations in school or clinical settings.
- Strong knowledge of food therapy techniques and occupational therapy interventions for children.
- Familiarity with patient assessment tools specific to speech-language pathology and occupational therapy.
- Ability to communicate complex medical terminology clearly to families and multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience in early intervention programs is highly desirable.
- Conduct comprehensive feeding evaluations, including case history, observation of meals, oral-motor assessments and assessments of sensory responses.
Pay: $30.00 per hour
