SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Angels’ Place is seeking a dynamic and passionate individual for the position of Teacher who is committed to making a positive impact on the lives of families. The teacher will provide a high-quality safe and nurturing environment for children to grow in all aspects of their development, and work with the child’s parent to form a partnership in the child’s learning.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Classroom/Facility Management - Prepare an inviting and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
- Safeguard the health and safety of children at all times, offers comfort and builds children's self-esteem. Knows emergency procedures and protocol.
- Planning
-Prepare thematic unit plans based on NAEYC standards and Keystone STARS, EHS, and meeting PA State Standards.
-Write and prepare lesson plans that meet the diverse physical, emotional, social, and intellectual needs of both the individual children and the group.
- Maintain accurate, complete and timely classroom records pertaining to the group including daily care sheets, attendance, assessments, and service hour balance, etc. Complete assessments for assigned children.
COMMUNICATION
- Coordinate scheduled appointments with families, and other partners, community resources and prepare information for meetings.
- Exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Represent the organization at community events to elevate the organization’s profile and mission.
- Build relationships with children and families. Establish and maintain good communication with parents through parent conferences and daily contact.
TEAM COLLABORATION AND SUPPORT
- Prepare for and engage regularly in Angels’ Place in-service meetings.
- Support peer teachers daily in a reciprocal manner. Work collaboratively and constructively with all staff members to problem solve.
- Contribute to the professional development of new teachers and/or student teachers.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child Development or related field.
- Associate’s degree in ECE, Child Development or related field, plus one-year experience.
- Child Development Associate certification, thirty ECE Credits, two years’ experience and currently working toward a degree.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, diplomacy and confidentiality.
- Excellent communication skills to engage with families, colleagues, and volunteers.
