To qualify for this position, you must pass a drug test and background check.
Job Description:
- Perform medical tasks as assigned by attending veterinarians.
- Responsible for providing medical care of all hospitalized patients for both large and small animals.
- Administer AM and PM treatments to animals (both large and small) by use of IV, SQ, IM, PO at proper dosages.
- Take TPRs and monitor all vital signs including heart rate, respiratory rate, MM color, CRT, BM, urinations.
- Monitor IV flow rates.
- Perform dental prophylaxis by ultrasonic scaler and hand scaling.
- Measure, position and appropriately set radiographic equipment for x-rays of all areas of the body.
- operate and interpret various forms of laboratory tests using computerized as well as microscopic equipment.
- Perform venipuncture for IV catherization and blood extraction as well as IV injections.
- Answer phones and respond to medical questions from clients.
- Restrain and/or hold as well as lift animals to assist doctors or other staff members in medical treatments and procedures for both small and large animals
- Calculate drug dosages as directed by attending veterinarian.
- Apply wraps and bandages to both large and small animals.
Acceptable candidates will possess the following qualities:
- At least 1 year of experience working in veterinary related position.
- TEAM PLAYER - enjoys working with others.
- RELIABLE- understands that all employees are required and expected to arrive to all schedule shifts on time.
- Thrives at working in a fast-paced environment.
- Works well under pressure.
- Enjoys working with animals.
- Able to use a computer and understand how to use an electronic medical record system.
- Must be willing to work at both, Angels Camp and Murphys locations.
