Overview
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Specialist to join our team. As a Direct Support Specialist, you will provide essential support in daily living activities, promote independence, and foster a nurturing environment that encourages personal growth and well-being.
Duties
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration.
- Provide patient observation and monitoring to ensure the safety and well-being of residents.
- Implement care plans tailored to each individual's needs, focusing on promoting independence and enhancing quality of life.
- Engage residents in meaningful activities that support their social, emotional, and cognitive development.
- Maintain a clean and organized living environment through regular cleaning and housekeeping tasks.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to address the medical needs of residents, including vital signs monitoring and emergency response.
- Support individuals with disabilities in community integration activities, fostering social connections and engagement.
- Uphold confidentiality standards in accordance with HIPAA regulations while providing compassionate care.
Qualifications
- Experience in caregiving or direct support roles, particularly with individuals who have developmental disabilities or autism.
- Familiarity with Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, memory care, or hospice care is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR techniques; certification preferred.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks safely, including the use of assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- A background in home health or long-term care settings is advantageous.
- Understanding of patient monitoring techniques and experience with vital signs assessment is beneficial.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.68 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 32 per week
