About the role
Angelo Caputo’s Fresh Markets is a family-owned grocery business operating since 1958. As we continue to grow, we are investing in a hands-on talent sourcing function focused on quality over volume.
This role owns sourcing and hiring for key retail and corporate positions, including:
- Store Directors
- Department Managers (Deli, Bakery, Grocery)
- Corporate Roles
What you will actually do
- Proactively source candidates from competitor retailers and related industries.
- Identify and engage passive candidates who are not actively applying.
- Build and maintain a targeted pipeline for leadership and department-level roles.
- Present short, high-quality candidate slates, not volume.
- Own candidate relationships from first outreach through offer stage.
- Partner directly with senior leadership during interviews and hiring decisions.
- Continuously assess hiring quality and adjust sourcing strategy accordingly.
This role is NOT about
- Posting jobs and waiting for applicants.
- Mass outreach without personalization.
- Screening candidates who clearly do not meet role requirements.
- Hiding behind process instead of delivering results.
What success looks like
- Leadership roles filled with candidates we would not find through job postings alone.
- Reduced time spent by executives interviewing unqualified candidates.
- Consistent delivery of strong, culturally aligned hires.
What we are looking for
- Proven experience sourcing and hiring retail or operational leadership roles.
- Strong understanding of grocery retail or multi-unit operations.
- Confidence operating independently with minimal day-to-day direction.
- Strong interpersonal judgment when working with experienced retail and executive leaders.
- High ownership mentality and strong professional judgment.
Compensation
Estimated salary range: $65,000 – $100,000 annually
Final compensation will be based on experience and demonstrated sourcing capability.
