Job Title: Driver of Clients (Part-Time)
Reports To: Housing Program Assistant
Employment Status: Non-exempt/Hourly
Time Commitment: Part-TIme (Up To 30 Hours/Week)
Minimum Requirements:
- At least 25 years of age with a valid Texas Driver’s license
- Dependable, flexible regarding schedule
- Receive training in trauma informed care and TBRI
- Disciplined, punctual in performance duties, comfortable with texting, basic knowledge of forms and spreadsheets.
Position Summary:
Responsible for picking up clients at scheduled time and location. Will communicate in a timely manner with clients about arrival, departure, pick up and drop off times. Communicates with coordinator regarding unusual or difficult situations, handles emergencies following proper procedures, reports drives in the assigned manner to transport logs, completes daily checks and mileage logs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following but are not limited to:
- Review schedule on Google Calendar the day prior to shift.
- Contact each client being transported via phone or text confirming pick up time and location
- Observe any possible time conflict and make arrangements with their supervisor to meet all necessary demands.
- Keep an accurate odometer log of each trip and enter them daily.
- Communicate clearly with both Program Assistant and client regarding any unexpected changes.
- Drivers are not permitted to read or text while driving. No personal phone calls are allowed while clients are in the vehicle. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- No ride-alongs or unscheduled rides are permitted without permission from the Housing Program Manager or Assistant. All clients must submit a transport request before 4:00 pm the previous day of needed transportation.
- At the end of each shift, it is the drivers’ responsibility to make sure all of the trash is removed (daily) and the gas tank is full. If the tank is at half or less, fill it up.
- No eating in vehicles during transportation trips
- Familiarize self with the Transportation Guidelines given to clients in order to properly uphold guidelines
- Follow all maintenance procedures and protocols already outline by the agency
- Attend monthly all staff meeting
