Duties
- Safely handle and restrain dogs during bathing, drying, and grooming procedures using proper animal handling techniques
- Assist groomers by preparing pets through brushing, bathing, drying, and coat styling according to owner specifications
- Maintain cleanliness of grooming stations, tools, and bathing areas to uphold hygiene standards
- Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding pet care needs, grooming preferences, and special instructions
- Perform pet nail trimming and basic coat trimming under supervision while ensuring animal comfort
- Support with heavy lifting of bathing tubs or equipment as needed to facilitate efficient workflow
- Monitor pets throughout the grooming process to ensure safety and well-being at all times
Experience
- Previous experience with dog handling or animal care is highly desirable; veterinary technician or assistant experience is a plus
- Knowledge of pet coat styling, pet grooming techniques, and animal restraint methods preferred
- Familiarity with dog training principles and veterinary experience can enhance your effectiveness in this role
- Strong communication skills to interact confidently with pet owners and team members
- Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting and standing for extended periods
- Experience working with various animals such as dogs or horses is beneficial but not required; willingness to learn is essential
