About the Role:

The Lead Aircraft Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of aircraft within our fleet. This position is responsible for overseeing and executing complex maintenance, repair, and inspection tasks to meet stringent aviation standards and regulatory requirements. The Lead Aircraft Technician will coordinate with engineering teams and maintenance staff to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently, minimizing aircraft downtime. This role demands a proactive approach to quality control and continuous improvement in maintenance processes. Ultimately, the Lead Aircraft Technician ensures that all aircraft are maintained to the highest standards, supporting safe and timely flight operations across the United States.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in aircraft maintenance and repair, with at least 3 years in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of FAA regulations and aviation safety standards.
  • Proven experience with troubleshooting and repairing complex aircraft systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with commercial or military aircraft.
  • Additional certifications such as Inspection Authorization (IA) or avionics certifications.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Experience in team leadership and project management within an aviation maintenance environment.
  • Advanced training in non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and perform detailed inspections, maintenance, and repairs on various aircraft systems including engines, avionics, hydraulics, and structural components.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of aircraft technicians, providing guidance and technical expertise to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with regulatory bodies and ensure all maintenance activities comply with FAA regulations and company policies.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures to optimize aircraft availability and operational efficiency.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical malfunctions using advanced diagnostic tools and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to address technical challenges and implement improvements.
  • Conduct training sessions and safety briefings to promote best practices and continuous professional development within the team.
