Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to ensure health stability
- Support medication administration following prescribed care plans and HIPAA regulations to maintain confidentiality
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist residents during meal times
- Conduct patient observations to identify changes in condition or behavior, reporting findings promptly to healthcare professionals
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and adhering to infection control protocols
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident's for safe transfers and mobility assistance
- Engage residents through social activities, companionship, and emotional support to promote mental well-being
- Follow care plans meticulously while working with multidisciplinary teams including nurses, social workers, and therapists
- Document care activities accurately in compliance with HIPAA standards and facility policies
Experience
Candidates should have prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, group homes, or home & community care settings. Experience with dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, hospice care, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is highly valued. Proficiency in patient observation, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and using mobility aids such as Hoyer lifts is essential. A background in long-term care or home health services will strengthen your application. Certifications such as CPR and First Aid are required; additional training in HIPAA compliance and resident safety is preferred. Demonstrated ability to work compassionately with seniors or individuals with disabilities—while maintaining professionalism—is key to success in this role.
