Job Summary

Angel Learning Center is seeking an exceptional and experienced Lead Preschool Teacher for our Savannah centers.

This is not an entry-level childcare position. We are looking for a professional early childhood educator who has successfully led a preschool classroom in a licensed childcare center and takes pride in maintaining a safe, organized, engaging, and loving learning environment.

The ideal candidate is currently working, or has recently worked, as a lead teacher at a respected licensed childcare center, Quality Rated program, Georgia Pre-K program, Head Start program, accredited preschool, or another high-quality early learning program.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong classroom management, dependable attendance, engaging lesson planning, professional parent communication, and a genuine commitment to children’s development.

Pay: $15-$18 per hour, based on credentials, experience, demonstrated teaching ability, and location.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a preschool classroom serving children between three and five years old.
• Develop and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate weekly lesson plans.
• Incorporate literacy, early mathematics, science, art, music, movement, and social-emotional development into the daily schedule.
• Use positive guidance and age-appropriate classroom-management strategies.
• Maintain consistent classroom routines and smooth transitions throughout the day.
• Actively supervise children and follow all health, safety, and supervision requirements.
• Observe and document each child’s development, progress, strengths, and individual needs.
• Adapt classroom activities to support children with different learning styles and developmental abilities.
• Maintain a clean, attractive, organized, and well-prepared classroom.
• Communicate professionally with parents and guardians about their child’s day, development, progress, and needs.
• Build positive, respectful relationships with children, families, coworkers, and administrators.
• Provide leadership and direction to assistant teachers assigned to the classroom.
• Follow Angel Learning Center policies and all applicable Georgia DECAL licensing requirements.
• Complete required classroom records, attendance documentation, incident reports, assessments, and parent communications accurately and on time.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, training, and center events.

Required Qualifications

• At least two years of documented experience as a Lead Preschool Teacher in a licensed childcare center, preschool, Georgia Pre-K program, Head Start program, or comparable early learning environment.
• Professional classroom experience teaching children between three and five years old.
• A current CDA, TCC, associate degree, bachelor’s degree, or other recognized early childhood education credential.
• Demonstrated experience developing and implementing preschool lesson plans.
• Strong knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate teaching practices.
• Strong classroom-management and positive-guidance skills.
• Professional communication skills when working with parents, coworkers, and administrators.
• Dependable attendance and reliable transportation.
• Stable and verifiable employment history.
• Ability to provide at least two professional references, including a former director, supervisor, or education coordinator.
• Ability to meet all Georgia DECAL background-check, training, and employment requirements.

Applicants whose experience is limited to babysitting, nannying, informal childcare, or occasional substitute work will not meet the experience requirements for this Lead Preschool Teacher position.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates who have:

• Three or more years of successful Lead Preschool Teacher experience.
• Experience working in a Quality Rated or nationally accredited childcare center.
• Experience with GELDS-aligned lesson planning.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Experience completing developmental observations and assessments.
• Experience working with children who have individualized learning or behavioral needs.
• Experience supervising or mentoring assistant teachers.
• A record of long-term employment and advancement with previous childcare employers.
