Duties
- Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts or transfer belts.
- Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration to ensure patient health status is maintained.
- Support medication administration following prescribed protocols while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Observe and document patient conditions, behaviors, and responses to treatment using Electronic Health Record (EHR) or Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems for accurate medical documentation.
- Provide specialized care for patients with dementia or Alzheimer's disease through memory care techniques and tailored activities that promote cognitive engagement.
- Assist with medical procedures such as catheter care, wound dressing changes, or hospice support under supervision of nursing staff.
- Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary restrictions and assist with cleaning, laundry, and light housekeeping to maintain a safe and comfortable environment.
- Support patients in community settings by helping with transportation arrangements or accompanying them during outings when necessary.
Experience
- Prior experience in home health care or assisted living environments is highly preferred.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or long-term care needs enhances your ability to deliver compassionate support.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration protocols, and hospice or dementia care practices is advantageous.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for medical documentation ensures accurate record keeping.
- Certification in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or catheter care are a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to observe patient conditions closely and respond appropriately in emergency situations is essential.
