Job Purpose:

Certified Peer Recovery Specialists (CPRS) will use their own unique experience in order to guide and support others who are in recovery from addiction and mental illness. CPRS will work in conjunction with licensed staff at ANEW. They will fill the gap by providing support from the perspective of someone who has first-hand experience, which many professionals cannot learn from training or education.

Essential Functions:

  • Support clients by acting as a mentor and helping them navigate recovery resources
  • Meet individually with clients to conduct wellness plans and help them reach their personal goals
  • Assist clients move into one of our multilevel sober homes
  • Facilitate groups within residential and OP program as scheduled
  • Coordinate client logistics of arrival and departure including transportation, managing follow up appointments, and working with other facility staff members
  • Attend scheduled staff and clinical meeting as scheduled
  • Build community with clients, staff and professionals outside of ANEW to create an environment that is conducive to client growth and recovery.
  • Take clients to selfhelp meetings
  • Inform clients of and/or escort them to social recovery activities and sober fun outings
  • Ongoing evaluation of client needs to make appropriate community and inhouse referrals
  • Work collaboratively with all other agency programs
  • Identify and connect clients to community resources including housing, educations, employment, and community recovery resources
  • Maintain ongoing, current, and required training and selfdevelopment for best practice

Qualifications:

  • Successfully complete the Recovery Coach Academy or equivalent Peer training certification program.
  • CPRS must demonstrate peer support, chemical health, or mental health experience.
  • CPRS will have personal experience relevant to the services they are providing to clients.
  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Must have minimum oneyear experience working in or with treatment centers
  • Peer Support Specialist Certification required
  • Must have valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to travel, with reliable transportation, sometimes daily in local areas with clients
