Construction Estimator — Part-Time Job Summary
Andy’s Concrete is seeking a detail-oriented Part-Time Construction Estimator to assist with quantity takeoffs and estimating for commercial and residential concrete projects.
This position is ideal for someone who has experience reading construction plans and preparing accurate material and labor quantity takeoffs using Bluebeam Revu or similar estimating software.
The estimator will primarily support overflow bidding and projects that our lead estimator is unable to complete due to scheduling or workload. Hours will vary depending on bidding activity and are expected to average approximately 10–20 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Review architectural, civil, structural, and landscape plans to determine the concrete scope of work.
- Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs for concrete work, including:
- Sidewalks
- Curb and gutter
- ADA ramps
- Concrete flatwork
- Foundations and footings
- Slabs
- Concrete walls
- Site concrete improvements
- Measure and calculate quantities using Bluebeam Revu or similar estimating software.
- Organize takeoff quantities into clear spreadsheets, worksheets, and bid summaries.
- Identify missing information, inconsistencies, or potential scope gaps within the plans.
- Communicate questions and plan discrepancies to the owner or estimating team.
- Assist with preparing accurate and competitive project bids.
- Manage multiple takeoffs while meeting established bid deadlines.
- Maintain organized electronic project files and estimating documentation.
- Communicate regularly with the owner regarding project priorities, deadlines, and clarifications.
Qualifications
- Previous experience performing construction quantity takeoffs or cost estimating.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu is preferred.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret construction plans, details, and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Experience estimating concrete, site work, or civil construction projects is strongly preferred.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet software.
- Concrete field experience is a plus but not required.
Compensation and Schedule
- $25–$35 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Approximately 10–20 hours per week, depending on bidding workload.
- Flexible part-time schedule.
- Additional hours may occasionally be available during periods of high bidding activity.
