Responsibilities Include:
- Provides leadership through attracting/hiring/coaching/developing and retaining top talent. Holds team accountable for achieving assigned sales, service, and operational goals. Responsible for efficiency and profitability ratios and goals. Is a positive role model and provides effective leadership by supporting Bank initiatives and communicating bank wide information, including the Bank’s strategic plan and other essential information to the branch team in order to enhance their engagement; contributing to a stronger, more profitable Bank.
- Responsible for integration of referral efforts in the branch. Provides sales development support to team members by maintaining superior retail and business product knowledge and applying the bank-wide sales process. Coaches staff and provides feedback to enhance cross-sales and referral efforts by continually assessing individual skill levels, setting goals and tracking performance. Identifies clients in need of Commercial, Treasury, Mortgage, Financial Services and Portland Trust Company products and services, referring them to the appropriate business line in order to assist them in achieving their financial goals.
- Maintains awareness of the branch market and competitor products, services and specials in order to effectively respond to objections and overcome obstacles in selling our own bank products and services.
- Obtains and maintains a NMLS number. Works with clients applying for HELOC’s, Consumer loans, and Small Business Loans. Ability to build and manage pipelines.
- Participates in business development efforts with sales activities including Business Banking lending and calling efforts.
- Oversees the scheduling and assignments of work. Conducts timely reviews and provides on-going feedback to each employee regarding job performance per the Performance Management system guidelines. Ensures development of staff skills and knowledge through cross-training, coaching and delegating. Provides HR Department with recommendations regarding hiring and salary and, when necessary, disciplinary action of team members.
- Assumes overall responsibility for daily operations and is responsible for the general maintenance of the assigned location to ensure the safety and security of clients, employees and bank assets.
- Proactively conducts outreach to clients to retain, deepen, and retain relationships.
- Successfully meets assigned goals
- Other duties as assigned by the Retail Market Manager
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent from college or technical school; plus two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Other Qualifications:
- Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in a retail banking environment.
- Prior leadership, team engagement, and performance management experience preferred.
- 1-3 years of consumer lending experience including interviewing loan applicants, processing paperwork and closing loans. Small business lending and pipeline management experience preferred.
- Proven track record of sales and service success.
- Proven organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven analytical abilities to analyze data and suggest recommendations.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks.
- Proficiency with multiple computer applications, specifically word processing, spreadsheet and database management software.
- Thorough knowledge of on-line Teller system, bank operations and procedures.
- Requires knowledgeable background of the Bank’s procedures and policies.
- Working knowledge of regulatory and compliance issues as they affect branch operations, including U.S.A. Patriot Act, Bank Secrecy Act (currency transaction reporting), Reg. CC (funds availability), etc.
- Ability to instruct and communicate with others effectively. Requires assertiveness, conflict management, initiative, and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written; plus effective interpersonal skills.
