ASI is seeking an experienced Systems Safety Engineer to manage and participate in various Systems Safety engineering efforts for our Department of Defense (DoD) (to include the F-35 Program) and commercial customers. This position is eligible for remote work.

Responsibilities
- Support development and documentation of system safety hazard analyses for aircraft and weapons systems across all life-cycle phases, identifying hazards and recommending risk controls using sound engineering principles
- Assist in validating and developing system safety evaluations for ECPs, specifications, and test data across electrical, mechanical, software, propulsion, avionics, and other subsystems to ensure safe system operation in all modes
- Participate in program and technical meetings (SSG, SSWG, design reviews, WSESRB, test planning, etc.), provide safety recommendations, and help prepare reports on safety issues and corrective actions
- Maintain and update hazard databases and support development of system safety documents, including risk assessments, point papers, program plans, safety board packages, and other required deliverables
- Monitor and participate in lab, ground, and flight tests; assess test adequacy, provide safety inputs to procedures, and document results and recommendations
- Review and provide recommendations on OEM deliverables and report findings
- Support flight clearance processes by providing current safety data, open hazards, and issues to clearance boards and documenting results
- Assist the Government as Lead Systems Integrator by developing system-level hazard analyses, safety plans, and subsystem safety requirements to ensure safe integration and interaction of subsystems
- Up to 10% of travel required
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, electronics, physics, aeronautics, or mathematics
- 10 years of experience as a Systems Safety Engineer or relevant systems safety experience
- Exceptional skills and knowledge in areas such as hazard analyses, risk assessments, test evaluations, and other processes and methods
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to use Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of DODINST5000.02 and MIL-Std 882 processes and related guidance documents
- Working knowledge of Naval Aviation fighter aircraft design, systems, support, and maintenance
- Experience applying system safety principles to fighter aircraft systems, support, and maintenance
- Experience with aircraft weapons systems or aircraft support equipment development, test, and evaluation
