This Grad Assistant position focuses primarily on processing manuscript and personal paper collections according to professional archival standards, contributing to long-term preservation and access to Adventist heritage materials. Training is provided.

Knowledge of or interest in Adventist history, archival practices, and additional language proficiency preferred. Must be a graduate student.Duties and responsibilities
Process manuscript and archival collections following CAR’s established policies and procedures.
Arrange and describe materials to create accessible finding aids (registers).
Research and write historical context, biographical notes, and collection descriptions.
Perform data entry and metadata creation for archival management systems.
Assist with basic preservation tasks such as rehousing materials and labeling folders.
Follow all handling and security procedures for rare and unique materials.
Collaborate with CAR staff to ensure quality and consistency in collection documentation.
Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Enrolled in an Andrews University graduate program.
Strong research and writing skills.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Attention to detail and accuracy and strong organizational skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required):
Knowledge of Adventist history.
Experience in archives or special collections.
Familiarity with Library of Congress call numbers and library catalogs.
