Teach undergraduate courses in the part 147 Aviation Maintenance School, including both theory and lab classes.

Assist with the FAA flight school 147 curriculum under the direction of the Department Chair.

Advising students and other academic related responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications summary

Bachelor’s degree, Master's or PhD preferred

FAA Ratings: A&P certificates, IA preferred

Experience in light and heavy aircraft maintenance

Computer Proficien


Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Duties and responsibilities

Teaching classes in the department's Part 147 maintenance program.

Building maintenance training aids as required.

Occasionally assisting in the maintenance of the university's flight school aircraft.

Providing academic advising to current aviation students.

Other academic and committee responsibilities as assigned.

Supervisory responsibilities

Assist with the supervision of student lab assistants as needed

Qualifications

Successful applicants will possess at least a Bachelor’s degree. A Master’s degree or PhD in aviation or a related field is preferred.

Applicants must hold the following FAA certificates:

Aircraft Maintenance Technicians certificate with both Airframe & Powerplant ratings, IA preferred

Maintenance experience on light and heavy aircraft, piston and turbine engines.

Prior experience in Part 147 Maintenance schools is preferred

Technology proficient (MS Office, ATP maintenance software).


Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Technical competencies

Maintenance Applicants MUST hold an FAA A&P certificate.

At least 2 years of experience in Maintenance on light or heavy aircraft, piston and turbine engines.

An IA is preferre

Interpersonal interactions

Must be comfortable interacting with students in a teaching role both in the classroom and laboratory setting

Physical demands

Must be able to perform basic aircraft line support functions including moving aircraft, fueling, and loading aircraft.

Must be able to perform all types of maintenance on small single, multi-engine and light turbine GA aircraft

Work environment

In addition to teaching in the classroom and lab, the applicant must be able to work outside on the aircraft flight line in all types of Michigan weather
